Might be a win-win for Facebook, but necessarily for VR as the entire industry. This will likely have an impact to their brand as more companies like Sony and Valve continue to advance in the space.Įxclusivity is only ever good for the platform that hold that IP.

The win Facebook does receive is incredibly minor because this won't outright sell Quest 2's and actively hurts their own users of their existing platforms thus lowering their already poor reputation due to their parent company.īasically, it's fucking moronic to not sell to their own customers who own Oculus hardware (CV1/Q1/Rift) and locks PC users who are loyal to their company out of a game that is likely running on Unity and basically further drives anger their way. Not only that, but it hurts someone like me who owns a high end PC rig and prefers to play games on their Quest 2 via Virtual Desktop/Link by restricting them to a lower fidelity experience with higher amounts of aliasing, lower resolution and framerate, and higher battery consumption. Facebook has the Oculus storefront on PC, but refuses to sell RE4VR to their PCVR players through their own storefront. No low effort submissions memes, gifs, image macros, etc.īecause Alyx wouldn't run on a Quest and it would be redundant to have the game sold on the Oculus PC storefront when it is compatible with all PCVR headsets via SteamVR.Read the FAQ before posting a question. This is a place for friendly VR discussion, so don’t start drama, attack, or bait other redditors.New Oculus owner?
